Welcome to Trena's Excursion Page!
This page is designed to show you the Planetarium situated in the Mount Cootha Botanical Gardens.
It has pages which detail the show names, times and available attractions for the students to engage with these pages are a copy of the Planetarium's pages.
On arrival the students will have access to interactive displays, brochures, posters with information on different shows and also general information.
They would benefit from taking a camera to take photos while at the planetarium as well as engaging with the many interactive displays on site.
The Planetarium has numerous activities involving numeracy skills, counting the stars, planets, moons, etc
telling time in order to arrive at the show on time, counting the telescopes and their magnification as well as.
Literacy skills would be used in reading the information found on posters, brochures, and interactive engagement areas, following the directions, finding things on a map for example the theatre, toilets, etc.
Then once back at school the students would engage in digital skills while finding, downloading and printing off the resource sheets found on the Planetarium website then using their numeracy and literacy skills by filling out the resource sheets on the Planetarium and the specific show they experienced.
